NATURAL
FERTILISERS FOR ROSES
Roses I believe
are one of
the most exquisite flowers ever grown. They come in a variety
of colours from red, pink, yellow, orange and a lot of mixed
colours. My mother had the biggest garden I had ever seen
as a child and the one thing I always remember her telling
me was that roses must be well watered especially for the
first few months and to make sure we water them well through
the first 2 summers. Roses really need good regular deep watering.
We always water our roses in the mornings as that is best
to stop fungal diseases and flower damage. My father worked
at a mill and always brought home a load of sawdust for mum
to put under her plants as snails did not like it as they
use to stick to it and it prevented them from getting to the
plant. Now I will share with you some natural fertilisers
for your roses.
TEA LEAVES NATURAL FERTILISER FOR ROSES
- Tea leaves are a great fertiliser for your garden. Tea leaves
are especially good for many plants besides roses such as
azaleas, violets, hydrangeas, parsley and passionfruit. I
always keep a container on our sink and when we have a pot
of tea I empty the tea leaves into it and at the end of the
day I take them out and loosen the soil and sprinkle the tea
leaves around the base of the roses.
BANANA
SKIN NATURAL FERTILISER FOR ROSES
- If you are a big eater of bananas
like my family well put the banana skins to good use as they
are great flower fertiliser. Collect your banana skins and
at the end of the day loosen the soil around your roses and
just place the skins just below the surface of the soil. The
banana skins rot quickly and they supply silica, sodium, calcium,
sulphur, magnesium and phosphorus to enrich your soil where
your roses are growing which makes the banana peels good fertiliser.
COFFEE
GROUNDS NATURAL FERTILISER FOR ROSES - One
of the great fertilisers for your garden is your coffee grounds.
Save the coffee grounds from your percolater or plunger and
loosen the dirt around your rose bushes and spread the coffee
grounds into the soil. The coffee grounds are high in nitrogen
and are particularly effective as fertiliser for your rose
bushes.
