NATURAL
ATERNATIVES FOR YOUR GARDENS
Controlling pest
in our gardens are just as important as water, fertiliser
and weed control. Instead of using harsh chemicals why not
mix up your own natural sprays that you probably have already
in your cupboards. I suffer from allergies and chronic fatigue
and we can not use any harsh chemicals in our gardens so my
husband makes his own sprays and fungicidals and we would
like to share some of the easiest ones with you. Below is
a list of our most easiest ones that I am sure you can make
and you probably have the ingredients already in your cupboards.
SOAP SPRAY INSECTICIDE -
Mix
one tablespoon of detergent to one gallon of water and put
into a spray bottle. Apply liberally to both the tops and
bottoms of leaves then repeat after a week or after rain.
GARLIC
SPRAY INSECTICIDE - Combine in a
blender an entire garlic bulb and two cups water then blend
until garlic is pureed then put it in a container and let
it sit for a day. Strain out the pulp then mix liquid with
one gallon of water in sprayer and apply liberally to tops
and bottoms of leaves. Repeat after one week or if it rains.
FUNGICIDE SPRAY - Mix
one gallon water, three tablespoons baking soda, one teaspoon
dishwashing liquid and one tablespoon bleach together in sprayer
and spray all the areas that look affected on your plant.
Apply sparingly to unaffected areas and remember that to much
bleach can harm the plant so only use one tablespoon. There
is no need to spray healthy leaves.
HOT PEPPER SPRAY - Mix
peppers and two cups of water in a blender and blend on high
speed for two minutes then put into a container with a lid
on it and set it aside for a day. Strain this mixture through
a cloth then add this liquid to one quart water in a sprayer.
Spray plants liberally every week or after rain.
